Backing Up  Moving files used daily from one folder to another
I am trying to create a backup system that is easy to use by having all docs I want protected in one place. In the example of the Quicken software, the data and all aspects of the program are stored un the "programs folder." Most of my other documents are in the "my documents" folder, naturally. Can I move the one folder in the Quicken folder from it's present location to my documents without affecting the operation of the program? I would leave it in the My documents folder for ease of backing it up along with my other data files. Thanks, Mark1 person needs an answerI do too

If the Quicken program expects its data files to be in ProgramFiles, then, unless the documentation for the software contains instructions on how it can be moved, you can't move it. However, it would be quite simple to create a batch file that copies those files to My Documents when you boot your PC and then your backup program can back up the copies.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]------------------------------If a reply helps, please vote it as helpful.
